150 YEARS OF SERVICE
YMCA Family

The YMCA of Frederick County began in 1858.

OUR HISTORY

In 2008, the YMCA of Frederick County will celebrate 150 years serving the Frederick community. The YMCA movement began in Frederick in 1858 as a small Bible study group for men in downtown Frederick. The first YMCA building in Frederick opened its doors on January 1, 1908.

Since that time, We have grown into a refuge for families as well as one of the largest community service organizations in Frederick County.  More YMCA history here.

JOIN IN THE CELEBRATIONS!

We invite the community to join with us in 2008 as we commemorate our 150th anniversary and the tremendous impact the Y has had on the citizens of Frederick!

In celebration of the YMCA movement and all that it represents, we welcome you to attend the festivities.  Each event represents a different facet of the YMCA – spirituality, philanthropy, family, community service and physical well being.
